Memphis C. S. Lewis Society Barry Anderson opened the meeting with prayer. Bill Marty reminded everyone of the upcoming “Christianity in the Academy” Conference at the Barry Anderson presented a request from Blackwell Publishing for opinions on a book proposal about Lewis. Opinions will be forwarded to Blackwell. The program featured a discussion of chapters 6 – 7 of Lewis’ That Hideous Strength. Topics of particular interest were 1) similarities between the events in the lives of Mark and Jane Studdock and the dissimilarities of their responses to those events; 2) the reaction of Fisher-King to Jane as she begins, for the first time in her life, to understand what obedience really means; and 3) the continued development of Lewis' ideas about marriage and friendship. The next meeting will be on April 9 and the program will be a discussion of chapters 8-10 of That Hideous Strength. Submitted by Barry Anderson
