Meetings of the Memphis CS Lewis Society are relaxed and friendly.  Meetings are "come as you are."  Education, gender, age, or church affiliation is not important.  We gather from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. with coffee and snacks.  Prayer, announcements, and comments are followed by a program.

The programs vary throughout the year.  We enjoy chapter-by-chapter discussions of Lewis' book. It often takes several months to read and discuss a single volume.  Going through a book together brings a deep appreciation of Lewis' faith and genius.

We might enjoy a program consisting of one or more book reviews by society members.  The books are generally newly published works about Lewis.

Another meeting might feature a paper by one of the members on a topic such as "The Poetic Style of CS Lewis" or "CSL and the Spiritual Art of Letter Writing" or "Lewis' Favorite Beer."

Occasionally we will watch a video about Lewis or listen to an audio recording of or about Lewis.

Any one of a number of Lewis-related authors might be the topic of discussion at a meeting.  These authors include Charles Williams, G.K. Chesterton, J.R.R. Tolkein, Dorothy L. Sayers, Joy Davidman Lewis, W.H. Lewis, Owen Barfield, E. Nesbit, or George MacDonald.

The December meeting is always held at the home of Barry Anderson.  An emphasis on fellowship, food, and drink is augmented by a "free-for-all" discussion of everyone's favorite passage as well as a review of comments/questions from the website.

We hope you will join us for the next meeting of the Memphis CS Lewis Society.
