Lewis Society Minutes of August 13, 2000 meeting Classroom B - Memphis Theological Seminary Present: Alli Antemann, Barry Anderson, Dennis Beets, Janet Cupo, Bill Marty, Ann Marty, Andy McClung, Carey Stone, Nikolaus Tressler. Andy McClung opened the meeting with prayer. An invitation was read to the group from the Older Wiser Lifelong Scholars program in Columbus, OH, soliciting a member or members to teach a continuing education course in October 2001. Andy McClung announced that he would soon be relocating to Chattanooga, TN to serve as associate pastor of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church. The society expressed its deep gratitude to Andy for his service to the group over the years. Barry Anderson served as moderator for the program. The group viewed the 1994 version of the movie "Shadowlands", a dramatization of the relationship between C. S. Lewis and Joy Davidman. This was followed by a critical discussion of the film. The next meeting will be September 10 and will feature a discussion of chapters one and two of Lewis' book, "A Grief Observed." Submitted by Barry Anderson |
